• I moved to Kagi.
  This means that you can pay THE BLOCK via the great Kagi payment system.
  This update is only to include the Register application and to have the latest internet address changes included.

v1.6.1 04/05/1997

• As you might have noticed the Manual changed to a HTML documentation.
• The file type of THE BLOCK Setup changed from APPL to APPC.
  This enables the user with System 7.6 and above to drop the application onto the Systemfolder and the Finder will place it directly in the Controlpanels folder.
• New CDEF & WDEF for THE BLOCK System Extension.
  This is made to show the 3D buttons and windows even under Tempo (System 8). Apples implementation of their AGA (Apple Greyscale Appearance) will be nothing more than a system extension. So If this extension launches after THE BLOCK there will be no more nice 3D buttons and windows. So I had to change Zig's CDEFs and WDEFs to show up even under System 8.

• THE BLOCK has now the ability to disable the <SHIFT> key at startup.
• I fixed a (major) cosmetic bug in the preferences dialog.
  One of the checkboxes had a spelling error.
• From this version on this manual is also available in the German language.

• You now can save the Log to a SimpleText-file.
• I did some very minor bugfixes ( Sys 7.5.5 savvy ! ).
• The README has changed to a self reading document, created with eDOC Creator.

• New with THE BLOCK package is my eCard. Have a look at it, and keep it for future contacts.

• The log-window has now a scrollbar to view earlier log-entries.
• If you press the 'Delete Log' button, you will be asked if you really want to do this before the log is finally deleted.
• After one minute of inactivity a progress-bar will appear in the main dialog which indicates the time left until auto-shutdown.
• More actions will be commented in log-file.
• The icons of THE BLOCK and THE BLOCK Setup, the log and the preference files are more embossd.
• The Readme has a new appearance. I think it looks nicer this way.

• Changed THE BLOCK's appearance :
  Implemented the new CDEFs and WDEFs by Zig Zichterman.
  Implemented frame-CDEFs by Jim Stout.
  Added a nice colour cursor.
  
• The 'Activity Log' works ! THE BLOCK will now give you an exact report when your Mac did a startup. Now you may see that your kids understand your computer better than you do...
• THE BLOCK will now shutdown your computer if you do a startup but then do nothing for more than two minutes. Save energy!
• Fixed the Bug with the window redrawing when having balloon-help turned on. No more disappearing window contents !

• Added an 'i'-Button (Info) in Setup-Program's main window.
• Added Balloon-Help support for most of the dialogs.
• Disabled sound-feature for System versions before 7.5.
  This is necessary because Operating-Systems before 7.5 do not support MACE-compression at startup time and the Sound Manager Extension will load after THE BLOCK. A real reason for all Sys 7.1 users to finally update, isn't it?

• Rewritten from the scratch !
• Password-Key is user-changeable !
• And here it is : The ultimate Preference-Dialog for THE BLOCK!
  You are free to change the following :
  
  • Turn the sound on and off without using a stupid patch.
  • Turn the Icon on Startup on and off.
  • Turn the Name under the Icon on and off.
    (This is only available if the Icon is switched on, of course)
• THE BLOCK will create a Preference-File in your Preferences folder.
• The patch for patching THE BLOCK silent {and smaller} is no longer part of this package. Sorry to all 20MB and 40MB HardDisc users
• THE BLOCK Setup is an application for changing the preferences of THE BLOCK while your MAC is running. So you don't have to cange them at startup. It is also for changing the Password-Key. You may place this program in your Control-Panels-Folder.
• Some sounds are modified and optimised in length.

• Added real PASSWORD-FEELING !
  Only bullets show up in the password field ...
• Added more sound. Key-Clicks are available and some other noises.
• This and any further updates of THE BLOCK will be distributed as the normal software package and a seperate update patch for people who have an older version but don't want to download all the sounds etc (Greetings to all 14.400 modem-owners !)

• A new Patch lets you remove the sounds. And it reduces the size of THE BLOCK by the half (!). This patch is my answer for some requests from people who like THE BLOCK but don't like its sounds. (Funny, isn't it ?!)
  I think it's also interesting for people with a small HD.
